Welcome to the Site of Lovech

Bulgaria occupies the Southeastern part of Europe on a territory of 111 000 km2 (square kilometres), and its population is about 8 million people.
Its fascination is hidden in the fact that such a small territory combines majestic peaks and vast plains; rivers, crystal-clear lakes; the endlessness of the azure sea with hot sand and sun; antiquity, preserved in churches, monasteries, stone inscriptions, historical monuments and traditions.
This small country was born in the VIIth century. Its most ancient inhabitants were the Thracians, later – the Slavs and the proto-Bulgarians. Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans had crossed the Bulgarian land and they had all left traces on the nation’s culture and customs.
    Welcome to beautiful Bulgaria!
Bulgaria is at the crossroads of East and West.
Human traces preserved throughout the centuries, can be followed on a relatively small area, and they are in harmony with the eternity of Nature – a wonderful harmony of earthly beauty and spiritual sublimity.
The town of Lovech is situated where the Danubian hilly land ends and the crystal-clear river Ossum slowly flows along the picturesque gorges of the Fore-Balkan. The town lies on the two banks of the river and is surrounded on three sides by natural rock walls. It is open only on its Northeastern side as though to become one with the fertile plain.
